Contrapunctus 6 a 4 in stylo Francese
Inverted fugue with diminished form, 4 voices, 4/4 beat, 79 bars

The title ゛in Stylo Francese゛ (in French style) is generally interpreted as
in dotted rhythm like a French overture, however, organ pieces by Grigny,N.
(1671-1703)and Couperin,F.(1668-1733)have some similarities in music.

The theme is, as well as Cp.5, varied from the common theme.
There exist four different themes all together in this piece; the variant
theme and the diminished theme (half diminished to the variant theme in
terms of note length) and their inverted themes .

Unlike Cp.5, once exposed theme is sometimes stated alone, although the
opening theme is shown by stretto together with another theme

All the themes in the above music are diminished forms except bass.

The themes are made stretto in various combinations.
Let's have a look at the stretto from bar 15 as an example.

The sequential motif in soprano and alto from bar 29 are the thematic
fragments, also employed in Cp.5, and commonly found from bar 54, 69.

Odd-beat sequence is again stated from bar 50, like Cp.3 and Cp.5.

Other the above mentioned, sequences are from bar 13 and bar 43, each
taking characteristic motive.

Coda adds more voices like the one in soprano from bar 76
and the two in tenor from bar 79.

This way of voice increase at coda can be seen in Cp.5, Cp.7 and Cp.11 as
well.
