Fuga a 3 Soggetti
Section 1(Bar 1-113)

The first theme exposed at the beginning is a brand-new theme unique to
this piece. Some believe that this theme is a variant form of the common
theme of the art of fugue but we think it wrong because all the other
variant themes but this never omit the notes which are incorporated to its
frame.

Following the theme in bass, tenor gives the tonal response, and no specific
counter theme is found here.
The blue motive ゛A゛in bass from bar 8 is utilized accompanying to the third
theme in section 3 as well as some other parts in section 1.

The inverted form of the first theme is stated in bass from bar 21 and
meanwhile, the authentic form and the inverted of the first theme are
found for the rest of section 1.

From bar 36, you might find stretto with thematic fragments and the blue
one in bass is the thematic fragment.

The former motive ゛A゛, from various motif are scattered everywhere, like
one between bar 37 and 38 in alt and tenor, another between bar 39 and
41in tenor and bass, and the other between bar 42 and 43 in soprano and
alt. A short canon, for example, begins at bar 45, incorporating the motive ゛
A゛and develops from alt to soprano.

The motive in soprano from bar 86 is handed and imitated one after another
over three voices.

Like this kind of imitation by motive other than a theme is also found in Cp.
10.

Along with the stretti by several variant themes and the thematic
fragments from bar 89, the music is leading to a climax in section 1. The
theme in tenor from bar 91 accepts very unusual variant form in which the
theme starting in inverted form is transformed into authentic form from bar
92.

The fragment of the variant theme is stated in tenor from bar 95 by
syncopation and its whole image is stated in soprano from bar 98, taking the
inverted form. The syncopated variant theme can be seen in the third
theme.

Along with the first theme, the similar figure with the common theme can
be seen in alto, and the figure like the third theme is exposed in tenor both
from bar 80.

If this figure in alto was intentionally generated from the common theme, it
would serve as an evidence that this piece was a member of the art of
fugue, however, no one knows it.
