Private Apartments / Houses
- Finding a rental apartment house is done through a real estate agent.
- You have to pay a deposit before entering a house or apartment.
- You have to bring your Alien Registration Card, income taxation and dependent care certification.
You need to pay for about 6 months. (if you break the contract the fee will not reimbursed.) Keeping pets and contracting repair of things such as air conditioners, etc. are not allowed without the landlord's consent.
Public Housing (Kenei-jutaku / Shiei-jutaku)
Foreigners (and their family members) with permanent resident status, or with special permanent resident status, or those who have resided in Japan for one year or longer, or have obtained a status of residence of one year or longer are eligible to apply to live in public housing managed by the prefecture.
Those who live or work in Nagano Prefecture.
Those whose annual household incomes are lower than the regulated income.

Employment Promotion Housing (Koyo Sokushin Jutaku)
Employment Promotion Housing is for people who will take up employment introduced by Hello Work, and who are recognized as being in need of housing. Foreign national applicants (households) are also required to meet the specific conditions. (Employee's Health Insurance, monthly income, guarantor, etc.) For details contact Hello Work.
