U.S. Single Releases

(Canadian too:-)

"Keep On Dancing"/
"Alright"(1972)

(Bell 169)

"Manana"/
"Because I Love You"(1972)

(Bell 274)

"Shang-A-Lang"/
"Are You Ready For That Rock And Roll"(1974)

(Bell 481)

"Summerlove Sensation"/
"Bringing Back The Good Times"(1975)

(Bell 607)

Notes:

Seemingly, this here's where the 'string version' of "Summerlove Sensation" makes its debut appearance.

Apparently, it is easier these days to track down promo copies of these early U.S. releases than their commercially issued counterparts.

Thanks to 'Eric' (No, not that one), who wrote to me about this and said: "The reason the early commercially released singles are so hard to find is that they sold very poorly here. More promotional copies were actually pressed than stock copies! Such is the case with tons of 70's US singles on Bell records."

"All Of Me Loves All Of You"/
"The Bump"(1975)

(Bell 618)

"Bye Bye Baby"/
"It's For You"(1975)

(Arista, AS 0120)

Notes:

The Rollers' debut single on Arista in the U.S. was such a miserable flop that it failed to even crack the Billboard Top 100.

"Give A Little Love"/
"She'll Be Crying Over You"(1975)

Notes:

Now, this is weird. Issued both on Bell (#10883) and on Arista as a promo (see pic) under the cat.# AS 0149, which eventually also became the cat.# under which the Rollers' next (breakthrough...about bloody time!) U.S. single, "Saturday Night", was released!
Does anyone know the full story here? Did Arista perhaps initially plan to release "Give A Little Love" commercially as AS 0149, but then had second thoughts, albeit not before a 'few' promo pressings of "Give A Little..." had leaked out under that particular number?
ANY info whatsoever would be very dearly appreciated, thanks.

"Saturday Night"/
"Marlina"(1975)

(Arista, AS 0149)

Notes:

U.S. #1. That's more like it!

"Money Honey"/
"Maryanne"(1976)

(Arista, AS 170)

Notes:

U.S. #9.
Some pressings of the single came without a picture sleeve.

"Rock And Roll Love Letter"/
"Shanghai'd In Love"(1976)

(Arista, AS 0185)

Notes:

U.S. #28.

"Don't Stop The Music"/
"Don't Stop The Music"(Disco Version)(1976)

(Arista, AS 0193)

Notes:

I'm not quite sure if this one was very widely - or at all - released Stateside, but there are a lot of Canadian pressings of it in circulation, and, of course, it was also issued as a Canadian 12" (see 'Collectibles' section)

"Maybe I'm A Fool To Love You"/
"Eagles Fly"(1976)

(Arista, AS 0199)

Notes:

For some strange reason (perhaps it was too 'mature' for 'the kids'? while another theory says it only received a 'limited' release) this one flopped miserably. Nontheless, it contains a very tasteful (...for a change), unobtainable elsewhere, edit of "Maybe I'm A Fool...", which automatically makes it very worthwile to seek out for collectors and/or fans alike.

"I Only Want To Be With You"/
"Write A Letter"(1976)

(Arista, AS 0205)

Notes:

U.S. #12.

"Yesterday's Hero"/
"My Lisa"(1976)

(Arista, AS 0216)

Notes:

U.S. #54.
Contains a single edit of "Yesterday's Hero" and as so often before and after, Arista liked to have a little fun with different label colors on different pressings. This they also did with all the U.S. albums.

"Dedication"/
"Rock N' Roller"(1977)

(Arista, AS 233)

Notes:

U.S. #60.
The Les McKeown-sung version of "Dedication", naturally.

"You Made Me Believe In Magic"/
"Dance Dance Dance"(1977)

(Arista, AS 0256)

U.S. #10.

"The Way I Feel Tonight"/
"Love Power"(1977)

(Arista, AS 0272)

U.S. #24.

"Where Will I Be Now"/
"If You Were My Woman"(1978)

(Arista, AS 0383)

"Turn On The Radio"/
"
Hello And Welcome Home"(1979)

(Arista, AS 0476)

Notes:

As The Rollers.

Another strange one. Although all discographies - and, indeed, other areas' issues - point to the conclusion that "Turn On The Radio" was supposed to be the A-Side, the Canadian release (same cat.# as the U.S.) implies that "Hello And Welcome..." was in fact the A-Side (there at least). Firstly, we have the letters 'SA' added to the cat.# on the "Hello" label side (below the main one, in brackets), while 'SB' is on the "Radio" side. Also, "Hello" appears here in a VERY edited version and that wasn't usually done with the B-sides. Although in South Africa, when & where "Hello" was (also) a single A-Side, it appeared unedited. Hmmm. Maybe it was supposed to be a 'Double A-Side' -- and a very good one at that.

"Life On The Radio"/
"Ricochet"(1981)

(Epic, EPCA 1225)

As The Rollers.

Photo & any/all info needed!

"No Doubt About It"/
"Set The Fashion"(1981)

(Epic, EPCA 140)??

As The Rollers.

Once more, info + pic, please & thanks!

"Saturday Night"/"Money Honey"(approx.late 80's)

(Flasback Records, FLB.92)

"Saturday Night"/
"I Only Wanna Be With You"

(1994, RCA Special Products, Canada, URC-4001)

Issued in the U.S. on Arista Collectibles.
