Produced

Notes:
Highest
U.K. chart position: #1.
"Saturday
Night" and "Remember" are
re-recordings of their 1973 single sides,
while aside from the obvious covers
("Be My Baby", "Please
Stay"), "Give It To Me Now"
was originally recorded by Irish singer
Kenny in 1973, while "Jenny Gotta
Dance" was first recorded by (John)
Kincaid, and in 1973 as well.
And,
according to Eric Faulkner, "Just A
Little Love" (if some sources are to
be believed, the first song that the
Rollers really
recorded as a band - and also one of
their very earliest original compositions)
was originally sung by Woody and what
appears here is merely Les' guide vocal
demo. For some reason or other, that was
"mistaken" to be the definitive
version of the song by the powers that be
and, of course, Woody's version never saw
the light of day. Would make a brilliant
CD 'bonus track' one of these
days, though, wouldn't it?

Differently
designed German issue, 1974.

voice); Alan (Harmony vocals/Bass guitar/Piano/Accordian)
Produced
by Phil Wainman.
Notes:
Highest
U.K. chart position: #1.
"Keep
On Dancing" here is a vastly
different re-recording of the Rollers'
debut hit single from 1971. Aside from
that and "Bye Bye Baby", the
other obvious additional cover here,
"Rock And Roll Honeymoon", was
originally recorded by Big John's Rock
& Roll Circus - a 'pet' project of
producer's Phil Wainman and his writing
partner's, the late Johnny 'Big John'
Goodison.
Later
reissued on Arista in a slightly
different packaging (ie no pull-outs!)
Original
Australian 1975 issue is extra
collectable -- no pull out pix + fold-out
sleeve!

Personnel:
Alan
Longmuir; Derek Longmuir; Eric Faulkner;
Leslie McKeown; Stuart 'Woody' Wood.
Produced
by Phil Wainman.
Notes:
Highest
U.K. chart position: #3.
The
version herein of "Give A Little
Love" has added strings to it, which
the original single version of it was
without. Rumour has it that there were
some very early pressings of the record
which did not include "Give A Little
Love" at all, although this fan of
25 years has yet to come across any such
thing. Needless to add, any & all
info on the subject would be greatly
appreciated.

(Fletcher/Flett)
Personnel:

Vocals and background vocals); Eric
Faulkner (Lead guitar, rhythm guitar,
acoustic guitar and vocals); Stuart
'Woody' Wood (Bass and vocals); Derek
Longmuir (Drums, percussion and vocals);
Ian Mitchell (Rhythm guitar and vocals).
Produced
by Jimmy Ienner, except:
* by Phil Wainman, and: ** by Colin
Fretcher.
Notes:
Highest
U.K. chart position: #4.
Later
re-issued on Arista with "I Only
Want To Be With You" as the 11th
track.
While
Ian's nervy lead vocals grace the title
track herein, once and when released as a
single a while after he had left the
band, they were replaced by Les'. And
that latter single version of the song is
usually - rightly - the one which ends up
in 'Greatest Hits' compilations and the
like.

Notes:
Highest
U.K. chart position: #18.
Pat
McGlynn was actually still a member of
the band while this album was being made,
although it remains a disputed issue just
exactly how active he was. He claims his
songwriting contribution was far more
substantial than the credits, confusing
and vague as they are, allow us to
believe and that some of his instrumental
and vocal parts were later erased - just
as his picture from the back of the
sleeve reportedly was!

Likewise, the LP versions of both "Give
A Little Love" and "Yesterday's
Hero" are opted for instead of their
slightly different respective single
versions and/or edits.

Notes:
Did
not chart at all in the U.K.
The
first B.C.R. album to be released the
same in all territories and
the last Rollers album to be released in
the U.K until 1981's "Ricochet".
"Magical
Thing" was originally sung by Les,
but his lead vocals were replaced by
Woody's once it became clear that Les was
to leave the band.
"The Pie" originally appeared
as an extra track on the Japanese issue
of "It's A Game" a year earlier.
This here is that same version.
"Back On The Street",
meanwhile, was originally intended for
the "Dedication" LP in 1976!
The last album as the Bay City Rollers
for five years.

Alan Longmuir (Guitar, bass, vocals,

by Peter Ker.
Notes:
Not
released in the U.K., although other
parts of Europe certainly saw it.
"Hello
& Welcome Home" and "I Was
Eleven" are covers of songs
originally done by Duncan's old group,
Rabbitt (see Duncan Faure's 'Rabbitt'
section)
"Soho" and "The Hero"
- both later issued on 1980's "Voxx"
- were also recorded during these same
sessions.
|
|
|

|
"Voxx"
(1980,
Arista Records)
Only issued in Germany and Japan.

10.
Rebel Rebel (Live)
(Bowie)
Personnel:
Derek
Longmuir; Alan Longmuir; Duncan Faure;
Eric Faulkner; Stuart Wood.
Produced
by Ricky Fender (alias Eric Faulkner),
except "The Hero" and "Soho"
* Produced by Peter Ker.
Notes:
Not
released in the U.K.
Presumably,
a contractual obligation to Arista who
really weren't all that interested
anyways, this 'odds & sods' selection
of songs is nonetheless remarkably strong
- all things considered.
"Working
For The People" is yet another
Rabbitt cover - the more the merrier! -
while, as mentioned earlier, both "Soho"
and "The Hero" are 'leftovers'
from the "Elevator" sessions,
although they certainly don't sound like
anything of the sort. The live version of
"Rebel Rebel" was obviously
recorded in Japan at an undisclosed date
- probably in 1978 - while both "Honey
Don't Leave L.A." and "New York"
originally appeared the previous year,
very differently mixed, on a South
African solo single credited to Duncan
Faure.
All in all, most certainly some of the
tastiest bunch of left-overs one is ever
likely to come across.

"Ricochet"
(Epic/CBS
1981) EPC 85004.
Once more as The Rollers.
Tracklisting:

(Faure)
2.
Life On The Radio

7.

8.
Lay Your Love On The line
(Faulkner/Faure/Wood)
9.

(Faulkner)
10.
Set The Fashion
(Faure/Wood)
11.
This Is Your Life
(Faulkner/Wood/Faure/A.Longmuir)
Personnel:
Derek
Longmuir (Drums & percussion); Alan
longmuir (Keyboards, bass, harmony vocals);
Duncan Faure (Electric guitars, lead
vocals); Eric Faulkner (Electric guitars,
lead vocals); Stuart Wood (Bass,
keyboards, harmony vocals)
Produced
by The Rollers and Stephan Galfas.
Notes:
Remarkably
enough, the last widely released Rollers
album to have contained a solely all-new
and original material.
However,
the band first recorded both "Doors,
Bars, Metal" and "Lay Your Love
On The Line" the previous year for
the "Burning Rubber" (see
'Collectibles' section for further info)
movie soundtrack. Moreover, both were
presumably a part of the demos which
landed the band the short-lived and ill-fated
Epic/CBS deal.
