Welfare Pension Insurance
- Regardless of nationality, those under the age of 70 working full time in companies or factories where the Welfare Pension Insurance Law is applicable must enroll in Welfare Pension Insurance.
- The benefits of Welfare Pension Insurance are not just Old-Age Welfare Pension. When the insured person becomes disabled due to injury, Disability Welfare Pension is offered in accordance with the degree of the disability. When an insured person dies, Survivors' Welfare Pension is received by the survivors.

Those who have paid premiums for six months or longer, but are not eligible to receive Basic Old-Age Pension benefits are eligible for reimbursement of their payments upon withdrawing from the system. Foreigners should apply within two years of vacating their address in Japan to receive the Withdrawal Reimbursement. Prior to leaving Japan, you need an official form issued at the Social Insurance Office or your municipal office to request reimbursement upon withdrawal. After leaving Japan, you are required to send the form with all the necessary information filled in, together with your pension pass, a copy of your passport and a copy of your bankbook to the Social Security Management Office at the address below:

National Pension Plan
- Regardless of nationality, those who live in Japan and are between the ages of 20 and 60 must enroll in the National Pension Plan. However, if you are already covered by the Welfare Pension Insurance plan, you are considered to be enrolled in the National Pension Plan as well.
- The benefits of the National Pension Plan are almost the same as Welfare Pension Insurance.
- The procedure for Withdrawal Reimbursement is the same as Welfare Pension Insurance.
- The amount of the premium is the same for all insured persons. A payment notification will be sent from the Social Insurance Office. The premium can be paid at banks or post offices by the indicated date.
