Nursery Hours
- Monday through Friday
The standard hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some nursery schools look after children outside of regular hours upon request. These are from 7:30 a.m. to between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. - Saturday
The standard hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Some nursery schools look after children outside of regular hours upon request. These are from 7:30 a.m. to between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. or by request until 6:00 p.m.
Day-Long care
If a guardian/parent can’t pick up their child until 4:00 p.m. because of work etc, an additional fee will be charged.
Nursery school fee
Nursery school fees depend on the amount of the previous year’s income taxation of the parents/guardians etc. Please bring the income taxation certificate (Gensen-choshu-hyo) and resident taxation certificate (Shotoku-kazei-shomeisho) from the previous year on registration day. Money will be directly deducted from your account.
Nursery school registration
Every year, from mid-October, nursery schools start briefing sessions for the next year’s enrollment. In November, they begin accepting registrations. These are then sent to City Hall. Please contact the Children & Family Welfare Support Division (Kodomo-Katei-Shien-ka, Hoikusho-Gakari) for details. Some nursery schools accept children from 6 months of age but it may be difficult to enter if there are no vacancies.

(If you have never registered your child with the nursery school, you have to complete it. If you have another child in the nursery school and are already using account transfer, you don't have to complete it.) - Nursery school registration form label

Additional requirements
- Seal (Inkan) of your bank account
- Account book (To check your account number)
- Your child's health insurance card (Kenko-Hokensho)
- Physical disability certificate, Ryoiku-techo, Tokubetsu-Jido-Fuyo-Teate-Shosho
- If you are pregnant, please bring your Maternal and Child Health Handbook (Boshi-techo).
Your child's interview
Your child is required to be present on registration day for staff to interview him/her.
