To aliens who apply for alien registration

For aliens who have entered Japan to stay in Japan for 90 days more.

You must apply for alien registration with the city, ward, town or village in which you reside. However, if you depart from Japan within 90 days of your entry, you do not have to apply for alien registration.

When changing your place of residence.

You must apply for the registration of the change of your place of residence with the city, ward, town or village to which you have moved within fourteen days of the day of your move.

If any changes have taken place in "name in full", "ationality", "ccupation", "status of residence", "period of stay", or "name and location of place where you are employed or your office".

You must apply for the registration of change with the city, ward, town or village in which you reside within 14 days of the day on which such change has taken place. If there are changes to any registered matters other than those mentioned above ("name of householder", "personal relationship to householder", etc.), you may apply for the registration of the change the next time you apply for alien registration.

When the time comes to file an application for the next confirmation (renewal).

When the time comes to file an application for the next confirmation (renewal), you must apply for confirmation (renewal) with the city, ward, town or village in which you reside within the relevant period.

If you have lost your registration certificate due to loss, theft, robbery, etc.

You must apply for the reissuance of a registration certificate with the city, ward, town or village in which you reside within 14 days of the day on which you have become aware of such loss, theft, robbery, etc.

If leaving Japan.

You must make sure to return your registration certification to the immigration inspector at the airport (port) from which you are departing. However, if you are leaving Japan with a re-entry permit, you do not have to return your registration certificate upon your departure from Japan.
