Contrapunctus 2
Monothematic fugue, 4 voices, 2/2 beat, 84 bars

The eighth notes in the latter part of the common theme in Cp.1 is varied
to dotted rhythm, which prevails the entire piece with lively atmosphere.

The response in tenor follows the theme in bass and the counter melody
accompanying to the response is the counter theme. Uniqueness in this
piece is determined by this counter theme.

You may find the embellishment given to the head of the theme in alto from
bar 23. And the counter theme in bass is passed to tenor in the middle.

This relay of the counter theme is very much peculiar to this piece, and
you will also find it from bar 31 where the theme in bass is accompanied by
three voices, one after another.

Such pattern as the counter theme relay can be often found at the other
parts, and at the same time, tonally varied themes are found sometimes.
(the explanation is omitted here)

You can also find the syncopated variant theme in tenor from bar 69.

Suddenly emerged this variant theme may sound unfamiliar to you, but it
gives an advance hint for Cp.3 and Cp.4 including some syncopated variant
themes.
